ConFID
Total carbon analyzer for continuous monitoring of the
lower explosion limit
The next generation of FID gas detectors
There is currently no FID system approved as a gas detection device available on the market. This creates a significant procurement gap for new installations and the modernization of existing safety chains.
With ConFID, we are developing an FID-based gas detection device that specifically closes this gap.
In doing so, we are building on our decades of experience in FID technology in combination with state-of-the-art functionally safe control technology.
Development status
A key milestone was reached at the beginning of 2026:
The basic architectural documentation for the measuring system was confirmed by the certification body as part of a concept approval process.
Initial functional prototypes are already in use in the laboratory and in selected applications and are being tested intensively.
The development of a functionally safe gas detection device is a complex and demanding process. The next steps towards series production and certification are planned and are being consistently implemented by our experienced development team in collaboration with external experts.
System architecture
The ConFID system consists of:
– a central control unit
– up to four directly connected analysers
The control unit provides the user interface via a touch display. This can be used to monitor operating states, visualise measured values and make configurations.
The analysers are installed directly at the measuring point. The sampling probe protrudes directly into the process, feeding the measurement gas to the FID module without long sample lines. This enables short response times and minimises system-related delays.
Normative orientation and security level
Our goal is to have the ConFID system certified in accordance with DIN EN 50402, among other standards. In terms of functional safety, we are aiming for SIL 2 – High Demand Level.
At the same time, current cyber security requirements in accordance with IEC 62443 are already being taken into account in the development process.
The result is a system that provides sustainable support for the functional and digital security of your plant.
Areas of application
• Monitoring of VOC concentrations in raw gas upstream of exhaust air purification systems (DIN EN 12753)
• LEL measurement during the manufacture of solvent-based products
• LEL monitoring in dryers of coating systems (DIN EN 1539)
• LEL monitoring of spray booths
• Leak detection in containers containing solvents
